8 Ways to Make Extra Cash

Let’s be real: extra cash lying around never hurts. I for one am a big fan of regular decluttering and looking for fun ways to make an extra buck. Whether you’re looking for permanent ways to make extra money or just looking to try something new, here are my 8 ways to make extra cash.

1. Poshmark
Sell your clothing, shoes, jewelry, and other fashion items on Poshmark. I’ve had a lot of success cleaning out my closet this way, and it’s super easy to list items. Note that anything brand name does very well selling on this platform.

2. Facebook Marketplace
FB Marketplace is the perfect way to sell items you don’t want to ship anywhere. Sell furniture, appliances, and large items on Facebook Marketplace in record time. You can even ask people to pick up only if you hate driving. Most popular items will sell within a day, but beware of flaky buyers and no-shows.

3. Ebay
Sell books, craft supplies, and electronics on Ebay. Note that you have to account for shipping so try to keep items under one pound to reduce your costs.

4. Donate Plasma
This was a big thing my friends in college did. Each company is different but people can ballpark about $50 per donation up to twice a week. Most places at minimum require your social security card. The process does take a couple hours though, so bring reading material or a laptop.

5. Market a skill on Fiverr
Fiverr is a great marketplace to market a service starting as small as $5. This is a great way to test drive a side hustle. Are you great at drawing peoples pets? Can you design a killer logo in less than ten minutes? Give it a shot!

6. Pet Sitting and House Sitting
There are a bunch of online services out there to become a pet/house sitter but the easiest place to start is just word of mouth. Talk to your local friends and neighbors to let them know this is a service you offer, people are much more likely to pick someone they know and trust. This also doesn’t have to be a time consuming task, depending on what is actually required.

7. Thrifting
If you love shopping but hate spending tons of money, thrifting is a great way to find clothing and fashion items for yourself while simultaneously hunting for things you can resell. An absurd amount of clothing and “fast fashion” end up in landfills every year and this is a great way to repurpose and resell. This is also great if you get tired of wearing the same things all the time, and like a fast turnover in your wardrobe that basically pays for itself.

8. Join a rewards credit card
This is literally just free money. I have a BofA rewards credit card that gives me back at least 1% on my purchases but there are definitely more competitive ones out there. I put as many of my day-to-day and grocery purchases on the card then pay it off every month. On average, I usually get at least $25 worth of cash back every month, which is literally free money.
